Welcome to ISQBS2020

-Chirality in Materials Science: Current Status and Future Prospects-

19th-21st Nov., 2020, Mito, Ibaraki, Japan (Online symposium)

Greetings

The symposium was successfully concluded. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the participants.

Welcome

It is our great pleasure to welcome all the participants to the 5th International Symposium of Quantum Beam Science (ISQBS 2020) at Ibaraki University (IU) on 19th -21st November 2020. ISQBS 2020 was originally scheduled for 10th – 12th July 2020, but due to the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, the organizing committee decided to reschedule and run it as a virtual conference using the online conferencing systems.

ISQBS is an international event held every year since the Institute of Quantum Beam Science of Ibaraki University (IQBS-IU) was established in 2016. Every ISQBS opened under its own scientific theme. ISQBS 2020 focused on the scientific scope related to the chirality in material science. Chirality plays an important role in all the scientific fields spanning from biology, chemistry to physics. ISQBS 2020 attracts excellent scientists in this research field to present their latest advances and discuss prospects of the research featuring the chirality in material science, including the topics listed in this page.

In addition to the scientific topics related to chirality, one session is opened for an academic exchange program between the IQBS-IU and Asian universities/institutes as a part of Sakura Science Plan (JST).

Symposium Topics

  • Synthesis of chiral molecules and polymers
  • Chiral liquid crystals
  • Circularly polarized luminescent materials
  • Chirality in bio-materials
  • Molecular based chiral electrical conductors
  • Organic devices with chiral molecules
  • Chiral magnet
  • Superconductivity
  • Polarized neutron scattering
  • Theory and computation of chiral molecules

Sakura Science Plan Workshop

The symposium is followed by Sakura Science Workshop, "The third Asian workshop of experiments and theory in quantum beam molecular sciences" which will be also held online on the 21st of Nov. 2020.
